Restaurant Supply Chain Management Application

The Client is an Ohio Based ColdFusion Application Solutions Provider. They are a consulting form who specializes in Organizational and HR Communication. They focus on three different areas namely, Organizational change communication, Compliance communication and web based self service systems that increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Business Requirements

The client was looking to build a ColdFusion application that would cater specifically to the restaurant industry. This application would aid the supply chain process in restaurants. It would take care of status check and ordering of food materials that are consumed by the restaurants. It would also help suppliers keep track of the stuff that needs to be supplied. The application would thus be beneficial to the restaurant owners as well as the suppliers.

Solution

The ColdFusion Application solution developed by iSummation Technologies caters to the needs of restaurant owners as well as suppliers. The application has two interfaces, one for restaurant chain owner and one for the admin.

In the admin section, the admin can logon to the application securely using his username and password. Once logged on he can upload pricing files (.CSV format) of the various commodities. Special pricings can also be uploaded which a suppler offers to a certain restaurant. The expiration date for the pricing date can also be entered. A product option is made available where the products can be searched on the basis of the supplier, Item code, Supplier description, product code or FC Code. Product relationships can also be added where the measurement units are assigned. Also Product categories can be assigned to products. Users can be added from the User add section. Here the restaurant owners can be added as users.

The front end of the application is used by restaurant owners. Upon logging in the restaurant owner can select a particular restaurant to check the status. He is then directed to a page where the status of all the item supplies is displayed. Upon checking the status, the manager can order the finishing supplies by adding them to the shopping cart. The prices of each item are displayed by supplier. At a button click he can check in case a more competitive price is provided by another supplier. He can then select the supplier of his choice. He can also click on an item name to get its details like product category etc. Once the product supplies are ordered, a mail sent is sent to the respective suppliers notifying them the order qty and other details.

All the products are divided into various categories like dairy, vegetables, beverage etc. The restaurant owner can also edit his personal information.
