Enterprise level CMS for regulated industry - pharma
The CMS is a solution for a reputed pharmaceutical company based in Europe. Operating from various locations in the world. They needed a single CMS that could help them create a conglomerate of sites in various languages, all which would be similar in visual elements and textual elements.
Another important component of the CMS was the need to fulfill the regulatory needs so that the content fulfilled the strict guidelines of the monitoring authorities. This meant implementation of versioning, workflows, audit trails etc. The activities on the users needed to be monitored in terms of when and by whom content changes are made.
The sites created by the CMS needed to be search engine friendly as well as would provide easy navigation for the users coming to the site. The websites would be compliant with all major web usability standards. Several functionalities were required in the CMS, which were needed as plug-ins so that they could be implemented only in the sites selected. The system needed to be scalable so that more plug-ins could be built and added as the need arose.
To make the page creation process more regulated they needed workflow functionality where with immense flexibility in role definition. We developed a customized Enterprise Content Management system that catered to the unique needs of the pharma giant. All the features provided were designed and developed so that they would be easily embraced in the current set-up.
Content Creation Features
All pages have title, meta keywords & description, live date, expiration date, alternative content. Add page notes for reminders or important information. Add internal and External links (with link checking facility). Image, document and media upload facility. Ability to include related items e.g. videos, PDF, flash files etc. Pages can be previewed before publishing. Mails are automatically generated prior to expiration. All pages exportable in PDF format
User Management Features:
Centralized Administration of user access. User profiles bundled together as user groups for easier maintenance. Profile based access for sections, sub-sections, logs , reports etc . Personalized User Home Pages for all users
Bread Crumb Trail facility so users can see their location on the website. Menus can be created dynamically for the website. The site generates custom error pages which tell the user where to go next. The site map is generated automatically. A comprehensive site search feature
Audit logs for storing user activity like logins, page views, page edits, approvals and publishes. Audit Trail to tracks changes for each page; who made them and when they were made. User editing section for access rights changes, account suspension / deletion, password changes, individual email etc. Version Management and roll Back Facility for every page allowing pages to be reverted to any previous version. Deleted items are restorable by Administrator. Any number of Workflows can be created and edited and the CMS can create secure pages
Email centre to allow assigned users to send email to other CMS users. A Notes system to allow Users to correspond with other workflow Users in the Chain (to explain why a page has not been approved for example). Message centre to communicate with site users using newsletters etc.
Statistical Analysis available to Site Administrators through the CMS. Reports cover both CMS and web site activity. CMS activity logged to help monitor user actions like log-ins and activities undertaken. A record of pages most recently added / edited / published available. Basic Web Site activity logged with page views, document downloads and visitor count recorded.
Analysis of most popular pages / downloads and the ability to track specific activity on sections, sub-sections and individual pages included
