Write Less, Refine Faster: AI-Assisted Report Writing
Time-consuming manual rewriting and cleanup of report content, solved with an in-app AI writing assistant for rewriting, summarizing, and improving selected text.
We integrated OpenAI's APIs directly into the reporting workflow as an in-app AI writing assistant, giving users rewriting and summarization help exactly where they're already working.
The Challenge
Writing clear, consistent reports is a core part of daily work for many case management and reporting-heavy roles, but getting there often means multiple rounds of manual rewriting. Users would draft content, then go back and rework wording for clarity, trim overly long sections down to a usable summary, or clean up inconsistent phrasing across a report, all by hand, one section at a time.
This kind of editing is necessary, but it's slow, and it pulls attention away from the actual substance of the report toward the mechanics of wording it well.
The Solution
The AI reworks the content for clarity and consistency while keeping the original intended meaning intact, it's an editing pass, not a content generator starting from scratch.
Select, Don't Retype
Users highlight existing text within a report, no need to copy content elsewhere or switch tools.
TEXT SELECTION · IN-EDITOROne-Action AI Assistance
From the selection, users can trigger the AI to rewrite, summarize, or improve the text.
REWRITE · SUMMARIZE · IMPROVESeamless Replacement
The improved text drops back into the report in place, so refining a section takes seconds instead of a manual rewrite.

Results
- Rewriting or editing a report section: from fully manual, line by line, to AI-assisted, triggered from a text selection. Reduced time spent manually rewriting report content, especially longer sections needing cleanup.
- Summarizing long content: from manual condensing to one-action AI summarization. Faster turnaround on reports without sacrificing the writer's intended meaning.
- Consistency of tone and clarity: from varying by writer and time available to improved and more consistent via AI assistance. Fewer writing errors and inconsistencies, since the AI pass helps standardize clarity and tone.
- Workflow disruption: from N/A to none, assistance is embedded directly in the report editor. Low-friction adoption, the feature works within the existing report editor, requiring no new tools or workflow changes.
